Sweet Reflections

The day after 9/11.

Still, so many people are in shock and sadness. I will never forget that day, as I know many of you reading this probably remember right where you were the day of 9/11. What saddens our country with the loss of so many outstanding individuals…parents, spouses, moms, dads, children, sisters, brothers, friends, colleagues, cousins, etc. The list goes on and on. Everyone left home that morning, thinking it would be just another day at the office. But we all know it wasn’t just another day.

This week, a friend and I talked and realized we had walked similar paths.

The year 2001 on 9/12 was the last “normal” day she had with her mom before she passed away that year in November. My sweet mom also passed away on 9/13 of that year. I remember thinking I was glad she was already transitioning because she would have been so worried about her family and our country. Remember the Jerry Lewis Telethons that were televised years ago? She would be glued to the TV during those days, just watching and praying for people.

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her with vivid memories.

She was a woman of grit, stamina, and a little stubbornness when needed, my best friend, my cheerleader, my support system, and most of all, my sweet, loving mom. People say we look alike. What do you think? Mom was in her 50s, and I was in high school in these two photographs below.

To those near and dear to your heart, reach out and tell them how much they mean to you. Life is so precious, and we want to make the most of every day we are given here on Earth to make a difference in the lives of others. Until next time…Be Blessed!

If you or someone you know are struggling with the loss of a loved one, here is a resource that can help you through the tough days.
