I’m sitting here trying to come up with the words to describe how humbling I feel. To witness something that has been a dream of my husband’s for so long; ministering to our widow’s hearts. I’m so grateful God has given me the privilege to be here and watch the hands and feet of Christ in action.
Ok, a little quick history. My husband was a widower and has always had the heart to help the widows. He has done so in many ways over the years. I have never seen him turn down an opportunity God has given him to help others, not just the widows, but this has been his heart.
As he states,
“I have walked in your shoes, experienced loss, and felt the pain. A season of life I never wished for, and after my loss decided to help others through their loss and grief. My life is helping others. As a professional photographer for over 40 years, I enjoy serving others by creating timeless, storytelling portraits of families. Life was good until one day waking up as a widower searching for answers.
After losing my spouse over 25 years ago, I felt the call to a new passion, to help widows and widowers survive a loss. Like you, I found myself continuing life when in reality, one-half of me was gone. This site, the books, and my speaking engagements are to help you navigate loss and survive to live a life of meaning and purpose. For the person who just experienced loss, you may feel like, “what is meaning and purpose?” I completely understand, and that desire to help you know is my mission.”
When we married, I will never forget being told by all the little ladies at church, “we still get our hugs!” For those that know Charles, you know he is the best hugger and would get the award if there was ever a competition for the Best Hugger Award! He has written a book, The Surviving Spouse Club, which he has gifted to so many over the years and has brought comfort to many families.
God’s Word commands us to take care of the widows and orphans. So recently, we had our first of many get-togethers for our widows from our church. We are grateful to our many friends who helped us on this special day! As the song says, “We’ve Only Just Begun.” I know God has great things in store to come. Please pray with us over this ministry and for God’s leading in the next steps. For stories of hope, click here.
