Can Vitamin D Help You Release Weight?
We all know Vitamin D is important for strong bones and osteoporosis prevention. We also know the benefits of fending off heart disease and stimulating your immune system, but can it help in weight loss?
According to a recent article in Very Well Fit here are some important takeaways:
“Supplements containing both vitamin D and calcium show promise for weight loss, according to the National Institutes of Health. However, scientists have yet to determine whether taking vitamin D alone (rather than in combination with calcium) can help promote weight loss.
Although vitamin D might not help you lose weight on its own, increasing your vitamin D intake could support your weight loss efforts while enhancing your overall health. In order to achieve weight loss, it’s important to combine vitamin D supplementation with a healthy diet and regular exercise program.”
What foods naturally contain a good source of Vitamin D?
- Oily fish, fatty fish like tuna, mackerel and salmon

The best foods that provide other ways of increasing calcium in your diet:
- Spinach
- Kale
- Okra
- Collards

- Calcium fortified foods such as some orange juices, oatmeal, and breakfast cererals
Let’s all take in a little bit more of sunshine on the days we can and if you are living in an area that is the rainy season, you might consider supplementing with Vitamin D or increasing some of your foods with the above suggestions.
