🌞 6 Summer Habits for Vibrant Energy & Better Health

Summer Simple Self-Care Tips to Keep You Feeling Your Best

Summer is the perfect season to reset, recharge, and renew your commitment to feeling your best—body, mind, and voice.

Additionally, between vacations, sunshine, and a slightly slower pace, it’s an ideal time to establish habits that promote long-term health. While we approach International Self-Care Day on July 24th, I’m sharing six of my favorite summer wellness habits to help you stay energized, vibrant, and resilient throughout the summer season.

Furthermore, whether you’re teaching, singing, speaking, or simply enjoying life, these small shifts can make a big difference.

1. 💧 Hydrate Smarter this Summer

It’s no secret—we lose more water in the heat. However, not all hydration is created equal! Try these upgrades:

  • Add fresh lemon, cucumber, or mint to water for flavor and added nutrients.

  • Include a low-sugar electrolyte mix after time in the sun or workouts.

  • Sip room temperature water if you’re using your voice often—it soothes the throat better than ice-cold drinks.

Because your voice and your body will thank you!

2. 🥗 Eat Colorfully-Summer Food Tips

Summer veggies

Additionally, summer is overflowing with fresh produce—and it’s a gift to your health. Also, brightly colored fruits and veggies are rich in antioxidants that reduce inflammation and support immune health.

For instance, try building your meals around:

  • Berries (great for brain + heart health)

  • Tomatoes (rich in lycopene and flavor!)

  • Leafy greens like arugula and spinach

  • Zucchini, bell peppers, and cucumbers

✨ As an example: Bonus: A Mediterranean-style approach (lots of veggies, healthy fats, fish, and herbs) supports energy and vocal clarity.

3. 🧘‍♀️ Breathe Deeply

Because stress and summer heat can leave us feeling fatigued or anxious, take moments throughout your day to pause and breathe—literally.

Try this simple reset:

  • Inhale slowly through your nose for 4 counts

  • Hold for 4 counts

  • Exhale gently through your mouth for 6–8 counts

  • Repeat 3–5 times

As a result, it helps activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which calms your body and sharpens your focus.

4. 🎶 Listen to Your Favorite Music

Music is more than entertainment—it’s therapy. So, whether you’re practicing your vocal warmups or dancing in the kitchen, music resets your nervous system, boosts your mood, and inspires movement.

✨ For example, make a “Summer Joy” playlist to turn on during morning routines or evening wind-downs. Additionally, your body and brain will appreciate the rhythm.

5. 🌸 Movements Every Day this Summer

Also, it doesn’t have to be intense! Because even a 10-minute walk in the sunshine, a few stretches, or dancing around the living room counts.

Movement:

  • Boosts circulation (great for vocal health!)

  • Supports digestion

  • Increases endorphins = better mood

  • Helps regulate sleep

👟 Aim for movement you enjoy—consistency matters more than intensity.

6. 💤 Prioritize Rest & Recovery tips for the Summer

Because long days and late nights can take a toll on your system and your voice, rest is a priority. Summer fun is wonderful, but don’t forget the power of deep rest.

☀️ Instead, try:

  • Going to bed 30 minutes earlier

  • Unplugging from devices at least an hour before sleep

  • Taking short afternoon breaks to rest your eyes and mind

Then, your energy, voice, and immune system will all benefit.
